Kenny Marks Dies at 67

CCM singer and guitarist Kenny Marks has passed away on October 31. He was 67 years old. Marks passed away after falling into a coma due to a heart attack.
Kenneth Michael Marks was born on November 6, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan. His family came from Yugoslavia under the name Makrovich, but his parents changed his last name to Marks when he was born.
Growing up in Detroit, Marks studied classical piano as a child and learned to play guitar when he was 15. He had his first band while in high school and then went on to college on the east coast.
Kenny Marks' vision was to take the gospel message to different places, regardless of culture, social class, economic status, this can be seen reflected in the art of his album Absolutely Positively.
Marks' songs such as "Make It Right", "The Party's Over" and "Right Where You Are" were regularly in circulation on Christian radio and are still considered by many today to be CCM classics. His music had an AOR/Bryan Adams vibe to them which carved him a niche in the industry. He continued to release albums up 'til 1995, exploring a more melodic ballad driven sound.
A celebration of life for Kenny Marks will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, 1pm at The Village Chapel (2021 21st Ave. South, Nashville, TN 37212). For more information, call 615-297-4747.
