Faults Indie Film Release Date, Reveals, Rumors, Spoilers and Plot: Screen Media Films Select Indie Movie for a March 6th 2015 Theatrical Release
Sometimes independent movies are just so good that they get picked up by the big distribution companies and theatre releases. Fault is one such movie. Written and directed by Riley Steam and produced by Mary Elizabeth Weinstead, Keith Calder and Jessica Wu the movie was first screened at South by South West on March 9th 2014. It did its round on the festival scene, getting screened at the Maryland Festival, the Fantasia Festival, the Australian Film Festival and the London FrightFest Film Festival. Faults was later picked by Screen Media films for a March 6th 2015 theatrical release.
Ansel Roth is a man who has made his living deprogramming people who were in cults. One day this goes horribly wrong and he ends up losing his wife, his book royalties and his TV show too. Desperate to make some money with which to pay back his manager, Ansel takes money from a couple to deprogram their daughter. This is where the movie really begins. Ansel kidnaps her from the cult called Faults and brings her to the motel where he plans to do the deprogramming. Claire is surprisingly calm for someone who has been kidnapped and for good reason, she believes that she could very easily kill her captor and return to faults. The deprogramming goes better than Ansel expected and Claire is soon meeting her parents again who were in the adjacent hotel room. This psychological thriller is laced with dark humor and was apparently well received at South by South West.
Mary Elizabeth Weinstead takes up the role of Claire and according to critics this was her best performance yet. Beth Grant and Jon Gries take up the roles of her parents and Leland Orser puts up a notable performance as Ansel. The movie shall be sharing a date with Unfinished Business, Chappie. The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, the Coup and Merchant of Doubt.
