World of Warcraft Movie news: World of Warcraft Film Adaptation Set for 2016, Paula Patton Joins Cast
World of Warcraft movie news: The big screen adaptation of the well-loved video game will hit theaters in 2D and 3D on March 11, 2016.
Here's the the World of Warcraft movie plot, according to screenrant:
"Warcraft's events will reportedly unfold against the backdrop of Orcs & Humans and Tides of Darkness, the first two installments in the beloved series, rather than the looser, more open-air experience of World of Warcraft. Not content simply to slavishly reinterpret the feel of the game for a different medium, Jones apparently plans on going full-bore with the fantasy elements and crafting a legitimate genre film as well as a bona fide video game movie; picture the scope of Lord of the Rings, but with characters like Khadgar, Medivh, and Lothar serving as leads."
The creative team, however, is quick to add that the game's main themes will remain intact.
The World of Warcraft movie will star Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu and Clancy Brown. Paula Patton is the newest addition to the cast.
The World of Warcraft script was written by Charles Leavitt and co-written by director Duncan Jones.
