Homeland Season 4 Spoilers and Premiere Date: Carrie as CIA Kabul's Station Chief and Why Brody's name will not be uttered this Season
Homeland Season 4 will return to primetime this Sunday. CIA agent Carrie Mathison, brilliant, intense, indefatigable, bipolar as portrayed by Claire Danes, will be back to shock us once again with her inflatable antics and extraordinary nuance.
Recent Homeland Reviews, was sort of not so good, specially the last two seasons. The first season was highly praised by critics. This time, viewers and critics alike are expecting a much better season, knowing that Carrie recently gave birth, courtesy of the war hero/terrorist Nick Brody.
The Homeland Season 4 plot will focus on Carrie being a station chief in Kabul and the Homeland Season 4 episode 1 is titled The Drone Queen. Life of Pi's Suraj Sharma will guest as an innocent student that is caught in the web of intrigue that surely will tickle the minds of viewers.
This new season is being tagged as a reboot of the show. Though we might never see Nick Brody again, but Carrie has the support of her CIA colleague Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) and former mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin). This time Saul will occupy a different role while Peter will "help fill the void."
Speaking of Brody, showrunner Alex Gansa explained that there was a very specific reason that Brody's name isn't uttered during "Homeland's" return in Season 4: It's time to move on.
"All of us here at 'Homeland' are aware of the significance of this season, and whether or not Carrie Mathison is a compelling enough character with the other immediate people in her world to push the story forward into a couple more seasons at least," Gansa says. "It does feel like we're telling Chapter 2 of the Carrie Mathison story, which is the post-Brody era."
Gansa knows that stance won't win him any fans when it comes to people who stand firmly in the Brody camp. "I know that there are plenty of fans out there who are saying they're never going to watch the show again because Brody isn't in it," he admits, "but I just feel that people are invested in this character and curious about where her life takes her after the loss of this very important person in her life." He also realizes that most fans will realize "Brody will always be a part of Carrie Mathison."
"Homeland" airs a two-hour Season 4 premiere on Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
