A Southern Gospel Christmas Celebration

Karen Peck and New River
Dove Award Winner and Grammy-nominated recording artist, Karen Peck is hosting “A Southern Gospel Christmas Celebration” on Solid Gospel Radio Network today (December 24th) from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Karen will be sharing Christmas songs and memories while she spreads Christmas cheer. The program can be heard on Solid Gospel affiliates across the country and on www.solidgospel.com. There will also be a special giveaway of Karen Peck and New River’s music to the online listener rewards club at www.solidgospel.com.
In a press release, Karen talked about her excitement over the show and the holiday itself, saying, "We will have a wonderful time in anticipation of Christmas. This is my favorite time of the year, and I am excited to share my memories, special, and favorite Christmas songs with the Solid Gospel audience."
One of the many special treats Peck will share will be a special reading of "A Soldier’s Christmas." The poem, near and dear to anyone who has served or who has military heroes in their family, was written by James M. Schmidt, who was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marines in 1986. Originally titled "Merry Christmas, My Friend," the poem was written about a Marine but has been altered over time to reference a soldier. Even though Marines do not call themselves soldiers, many people call any U.S. military service personnel "soldiers" so while the titles are different, the sentiment is the same.
Be sure to tune in for some great Christmas music and wonderful stories and surprises.
