iOS 8.0.1 Update Reports a lot of Mishaps; Did iOS 8.0.2 Clean Up the Setbacks Caused?
More than a week ago, Apple had launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus and the powerful new OS iOS 8. Then just a few days, Apple released the iOS 8.0.1, to fix some bugs from iOS 8. But consumers are complaining about issues regarding the new update. Some of the known problems after downloading the update, includes their iPhones no longer connecting to a cellular network, with a message of "no service." iPhone owners also reported issues with Touch ID after downloading the update, with some noting that the feature -- which allows people to unlock their phones using their fingerprints -- was no longer working.
But Apple is quick to take action as they put a stop to the software update, a mere hour after releasing it. For those who downloaded iOS 8.0.1, CNET has a handy guide on how to restore iPhone following the update. Apple did acknowledge the mishap and are working on a resolution the soonest.
Apple later advised that it had worked to address the issue:
"We have a workaround for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1. Affected users can reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes, for more information visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6487. We apologize for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days."
Released on Thursday, iOS 8.0.2 is the promised fix. But at least a few users are saying that certain problems remain. In a conversation thread on Reddit, some users apparently based in Australia say they're still bumping into the same cellular connectivity and Touch ID glitches. So far, the negative comments don't appear to be widespread. In fact, several people chiming in on the thread say that iOS 8.0.2 is working fine for them.
