Manhattan Love Story Stars Analeigh Tipton and Jake McDorman's Real-Life Romance Parallels with that of Dana and Peter in the Show
Manhattan Love Story premiere's Tuesday, September 30, at the 8:30 PM time slot on ABC. Starring Analeigh Tipton as "Dana," Jake McDorman as "Peter," Nicolas Wright as "David," Chloe Wepper as "Chloe," Kurt Fuller as "William," and Jade Catta-Preta as "Amy," the new Manhattan Love Story TV series will explore the internal monologues of young couples "Dana" and "Peter" as they embark on their budding romantic relationship. According to series creator Jeff Lowell during his July press conference, the show will make viewers privy to Peter and Dana's inner thoughts, to "establish that men and women think about things differently." An official Manhattan Love Story trailer is already available at the show's ABC website, Youtube and other video hosting sites. There is also now already a Manhattan Love Story wiki fan site for the latest updates and news about the show and its stars.
Perhaps interestingly, lead stars 25-year-old Tipton and 28-year-old McDorman are also now having their own real-life Manhattan love story. In a talk with People, Tipton did admit, "It sounds corny, but I'm actually having my own little Manhattan Love Story. I'm relating to so many more things in the script because I'm kind of that girl right now." The young couple, says the Daily Mail, were first seen sharing a kiss while seated in the stands at a US Open match in New York last month.
While still too early, Manhattan Love Story reviews based on the pilot release have generally been unfavorable. Deepayan Sengupta writing for Sound on Sight says: "If this entire series will feature voice-over, giving the audience a peek into what men and women are actually thinking (as it claims), the characters need to have far more interesting thoughts. Manhattan Love Story makes a bad first impression and at least initially, it isn't original or funny enough to recover." Daniel Fienberg of Hit Fix maintains, "But if we're being honest, going against NCIS and The Voice and The Flash (jury's still out on FOX's Utopia) and relying on the initially noxious Selfie as a lead-in, it's hard to have much confidence in the longevity here. Free Analeigh Tipton."
