'Destiny' PC Release Date: Developers are Interested But No Official Announcement Yet
Put together Bungie, creator of Halo, and Activision, publisher of the Call of Duty series, and you get Destiny. Destiny is highly regarded as the most anticipated game to be released this year. And as if to confirm that, Destiny garnered $325 million in sales during just five days into its release. According to Michael Pachter, analyst at Wedbush Securities, this easily makes Destiny "one of the fastest selling games of all time." However, PC gamers are still clamoring to have the game released on PC so they can play it as well. It can be remembered that Destiny was only made available in gaming consoles like PS3/4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. So, are we going to see a PC version anytime soon?
There is still no definite answer for this question as of now. Eric Osborne, senior writer for Bungie sad that the more platforms they take on, the more work it would demand. So, in order to avoid compromising the core experience for any platform, they are limiting them as of the moment. This is why a PC version is not released. When asked if there will be a PC version, he said that even if they have not confirmed any talk about a PC version, they are definitely looking into it.
A large portion of the whole gaming industry is composed by PC gamers all over the world. This simply means that not releasing a PC version of a game as highly anticipated as this one would mean missing out on millions more of sales. The $325 million-sale, despite not-so-good reviews, is a testament to how excited gamers all over the world are for Destiny. Imagine how that figure would skyrocket if the game was available in all platforms including PC.
By all indication, Bungie is considering a PC version of the game. This is something that PC gamers can take comfort from. However, what is apparent is that they may have to wait for some time before this gets into fruition.
As of the moment, the high-grossing game Destiny is only available in consoles and will most likely take months before it will be available in PCs. PC gamers can only hope for the best as there are was no official word yet.
