'True Detective' Season 2 HBO Release Date, Creator Nic Pizzolatto Interview Calls New Episodes 'Personal', Watch Here (VIDEO)
"True Detective" on HBO has become one of television's best series and the Hollywood Reporter did a video interview with show creator Nic Pizzolatto as he shared about his experience with the hit show.
"My job is to tell the best story I can with the most compelling characters," says the creator and showrunner. "I just don't know any other way to create other than the personal and people respond to the stuff that you know I had to bleed for."
"True Detective" Season 1 ran from January through March of 2014. The show had huge ratings from the start and Nic Pizzolatto signed a two-year deal with HBO.
Production for Season 2 has not begun yet, so it will not premiere until Summer 2015 along with HBO's other big summer drama, "The Leftovers".
Pizzolatto has stated that the second season will feature three new lead characters. Season 2 will take place in California but will exclude Los Angeles in favor of a lesser-known region of the state. Pizzolatto will again write every episode; unlike the first season, each episode will be directed by a different director.
Different names have come up to take over as lead characters for Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson and Joji Fukunaga. Some of the rumored names are Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch (The Normal Heart) and Vince Vaughn.
Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss could join the show as a lead female detective as well. Moss has already played a detective in Top of the Lake. Rachel McAdams is another name that has been floating around.
