The Gunman Movie Release Date, Reveals, News, Reviews, News and Plot: Sean Penn Takes up Role of our Hero Martin Terrier

2015 seems to be the year of the movies based on books as yet another movie based on a novel makes its way to theaters on February 20^th. The movie The Gunman is based on the novel The Prone Gunman by Jean-Patrick Manchette. The movie that comes courtesy of Open Road Films and Studio Canal is directed by Pierre Morel. Monsieur Morel is known for the movies District 13, From Paris with Love and Taken he also worked in the capacity of cinematographer on the movie the transporter. The movie was shot in spring of 2013 at various locations across Europe.

The book on which the movie is based got 3.8 out of a possible 5 on the book site good reads. We are stuck with an unlikely hero, Martin Terrier who is a hit man. He decides that he has had enough of killing people for money and wants to settle down with his childhood sweetheart and forget all about his past. Unfortunately, like all shady organizations the Organization (that is the name of the people he works for) are not ready to let him go. This sends Terrier and his mentor on a race across the continent chased by two operatives from the Organization. The movie which is like any number of movies about Hit men including Hitman is really bringing nothing new in terms of story line but should be an interesting watch. It is an opportunity or both cast and crew to show out and create a truly phenomenal film in terms of production and acting quality.

Sean Penn shall be taking up the role of our hero Martin Terrier with Hollywood's newest sweetheart; Idris Elba acting as Dupont a ruthless operative sent after Terrier after he tries to ditch the Organization. Other actors joining the cast are Javier Bardem, Jasmin Trinca, Mark Rylance and Jayme Swift. The movie is produced by Adrian Guerra, Peter McAleese, Andrew Rona and Joel Silva. Jean-Patrick Manchette shall be writing the screenplay to the movie based on his book which is always a good idea as proven by the Godfather series, it will help the movie stay true to the book and reduce the number of disappointed fans. He is joined by Petr Harris and Don Macpherson.
