'Ghostbusters 3' News: Release Date Updates, Rumors; Reitman, Murray, Ramis Off, Dan Aykroyd Interested
'Ghostbusters 3' news and updates of the movie are here for you to grab. The latest news is that the sequel to the 1980's popular American supernatural comedy film is coming for sure. We don't know yet whether it will be in 2015, 2016 or 2017.
Ghostbusters was first released in 1984, produced and directed by Ivan Reitman, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. The original movie starred Billy Murray, Ramis and Aykroyd in the lead roles of parapsychologists in New York City. The movie had an out of the box subject where these characters try to catch the ghosts. The film grossed $293 worldwide and many awards too.
Looking at the success of the movie, the Ghostbusters II was released in 1989. Sony is planning to make the third sequel and is in discussion with directors. With the death of Ramis, Ivan Reitman too denied of directing the 3rd version. It is rumored that "Bridesmaid" director Paul Feig may direct the movie.
The rumors claim that the Ghostbusters 3 will have all females leading the team. Billy Murray too said he doesn't want to be included as main role and would be happy in the supporting cast. So it is for sure that the new version will have all new faces apart from Dan Aykroyd who is said to be returning in the third sequel.
The movie is such a big hit at the box office that it sure to make the noise again. The Hollywood Reported revealed Paul Feig would be the best option to go for with the direction. However, there is no deal done yet and no formal process has started. As per the sources, the film might start shoot in 2015. Sony has however not confirmed anything yet on this. The cast is still not known. Rumors believe females will lead but no names yet.
Harold is still in the hearts of the fans and casting team who working in the original titles. Ernie Hudson even said that "There can't be another Ghostbuster without Harold." And that's true. Fans can expect the movie to be arriving in 2016 or 2017 and not before that in any case.
