Resident Evil 7 Release Date, Rumors, News, and Updates: No official Announcement Yet; Revelations 2 Officially Announced
Resident Evil 7 has been rumored to be in development a few months ago. It was reported that a former employee of a motion capture studio said that she did work on the unannounced game between November 2012 and January 2013.
Yesterday at Sony's pre-TGS PlayStation press conference, fans of the franchise expected an official announcement confirming Resident Evil 7, but were left disappointed. Regardless, Capcom officially announced that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is set to be released on 2015. The game was rumored to be announced a couple of weeks ago when a box art for the game was leaked online. Now, it has been confirmed. A live-action trailer accompanied the announcement and can be seen below.
Resident Evil: Revelations was released back in 2012, and has received generally favorable reviews from fans and critics alike and has spawned HD ports for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC last year. The spin-off series was even among the top 25 best-selling games of February 2012, while the HD ports of the game performed well with combined sales of 1.1 Million copies worldwide. So, banking in on the franchise seems to be a logical approach for Capcom.
Also, an HD remake of Resident Evil, which was originally released for the GameCube back in 2002, will also be available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in early 2015.
However, fans are still waiting for an announcement for Resident Evil 7, but it seems like the company is keeping mum on the matter.
