We have the latest for you on the premiere, spoilers, cast and filming of season 3 of Orange is The New Black. 'Orange is The New Black' is an American Comedy Drama which was first premiered on 11th July 2013 on Netflix. The series was renewed to a third season earlier in the year, and it is speculated that the new season will air sometime in June 2015.
What surprised the fans is that the series was renewed for the third season a month earlier before the second season was aired. This pre-renewal follows that of another series known as 'The House of Cards'. However, the renewal was kind of expected since 'Orange is The New Black' is reported to be Netflix's most watched show even more that the critically acclaimed 'The House of Cards'.
According to Laverne Cox, an actress, the new season of 'Orange is The new Black' will be both serious and comedic. The actress talked to MTV on the red carpet of Video Music Awards and she hinted that the fans should expect a mixture of tragedy and comedy. She said, "We started shooting season three the first week of June. We should be done around the end of this year. It's amazing. I think more of [what we saw in season two], but what our show does well is it has a balance between the very serious and the comedic." She also added that it is not fun when the series just focuses on giving serious scenes all the time. She said that it was human to laugh amidst the tragedies in life.
Meanwhile, an exciting group of characters will be joining the third season which will include both old and new cast. One of the actors is Laura Prepon who plays the role of Alex Vause who is Piper's Lover. She has been promoted to a regular member of the cast which means that she will be back in the upcoming season. Spoilers also reveal that the comedian Mike Birbiglia who played Patrick in 'The Fault in Our Stars' will be part of the cast.
