George R.R. Martin New Book 'Winds of Winter' Reveals Many Deaths, No Plans for Author to Write for 'Game of Thrones' Season 5

'Winds of Winter' from George R.R. Martin Reveals Many Deaths, No Plans to Write for 'Game of Thrones' Season 5
Fans have been waiting on the highly anticipated new book from author George R.R. Martin, The Winds of Winter, which is set to be his next release in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Martin appeared at a event in London with author Robin Hobb this week and revealed some of this thoughts as he plans out the next chapters in the "Ice and Fire" series.
"The way my books are structured, everyone was together, then they all went their separate ways and the story deltas out like that," Martin explained, "and now it's getting to the point where the story is beginning to delta back in, and the viewpoint characters are occasionally meeting up with each other now and being in the same point at the same time, which gives me a lot more flexibility for killing people."
"I could have written a story about a well-adjusted family," the author continued. "Ned Stark comes down to King's Landing and takes over and solves all their problems. Would that have been as exciting?"
Of course not. Fans love "Game of Thrones" because of the unpredictable nature. So we will have to wait and see who's death is looming.
The last book, A Dance with Dragons, covered less story than Martin intended, leaving out at least one planned large battle sequence and leaving several character threads ending in limbo. Martin intends to resolve these storylines "very early" in The Winds of Winter, saying "I'm going to open with the two big battles that I was building up to, the battle in the ice and the battle at Meereen-the battle of Slaver's Bay. And then take it from there."
A Victarion Greyjoy chapter will begin five minutes after the end of A Dance with Dragons, taking place on the eve of the Iron Islanders' surprise attack on the cities in Slaver's Bay. An Arianne Martell sample chapter that Martin released on his website showed her heading for Griffin's Roost to see the young boy who is calling himself Aegon.
Martin said in March 2012 that the final two novels will take readers farther north than any of the previous books, and that the Others will appear in the book.
Martin has always written one episode for "Game of Thrones" during each season up to this point, but will not be writing a script for season five, Vulture reported. He shared with Vulture about not writing a script for the upcoming season, "Not this year, no - once again because I have this book to finish."
He spoke with Mashable last year about blocking out fan expectations for his books sharing, "I try not to pay attention to any of that; 99% of my fans are fabulous. No book pleases everybody and no timetable pleases everybody. The fact that there are people looking forward to the book is a nice problem to have. It's all good."
There has been no release date set yet for Martin's upcoming book The Winds of Winter.
