'Prometheus 2' Release Date 2016, Cast News Michael Fassbender & Noomi Rapace Returning
The Prometheus 2 release date has been set for March 4, 2016 after Prometheus was a box office hit. Michael Fassbender (David, android ship maintenance man) and Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw, archeologist) are both confirmed to star in the sequel. Check out their official website for more details HERE.
Michael Fassbender gushed with Collider Ridley Scott sharing, "I love Ridley. He's a master filmmaker."
Rotten Tomatoes mentioned that "Ridley Scott's ambitious quasi-prequel to Alien may not answer all of its big questions, but it's redeemed by its haunting visual grandeur and compelling performances-particularly Michael Fassbender as a fastidious android."
Prometheus 2 is said to be a prequel to the 1979 film called Alien which Paglen has already finished writing, according to reports. The original Prometheus movie which was released in Summer of 2012, was a huge box office success with gross earnings of $400 million at the box office. This has the production team putting in some serious effort to ensure the sequel's success as they know it can be a huge hit that the fans are waiting for if they make it great.
Prometheus 2 was originally set for a release date in 2015 but was pushed back to 2016 after screenwriter Damon Lindelof left the project to work on Brad Bird's sci-fi film Tomorrowland. Ridley Scott was also working on the crime thriller The Counselor and the Moses epic movie Exodus.
Prometheus 2 is currently set to begin filming this Fall with Ridley Scott having been scouting possible shooting locations in Australia. The script written by Jack Paglen and having been re-worked by Michael Green more recently.
