Lakers NBA Trade Rumors: Big Free Agents Coming to LA? Kobe Says Cavs Trading Wiggins 'Mistake'
The Los Angeles Lakers have had a tough off season with nothing seeming to go right. The historic NBA franchise is at an all-time low, missing last years playoffs, losing Pau Gasol and not attracting any big free agents over the summer.
As franchise star Kobe Bryant looks to have a comeback year after his latest injury, they are scrambling trying to put the best possible line-up around him of what is left on the market.
The moves that the Lakers have made for the 2014-2015 NBA season are bringing in Ed Davis, Carlos Boozer and Jeremy Lin. None of them are All-Star caliber players currently, but could fit together as nice pieces with the rest of the squad including Steve Nash on his last year if he can stay healthy enough to stay on the court.
Of the free agents still left on the market, the best options for the Lakers are: Chris Douglas-Roberts, Jordan Crawford, Michael Beasley and Eric Bledsoe. Bledsoe is the strongest player of the bunch but is still expected to re-sign with his current team, the Phoenix Suns.
Head coach Byron Scott said that he is planning to give a new identity for the Lakers, and is planning to get back the old championship winning plays of one of the league's most popular franchises.
Kobe Bryant made some interesting comments last week about current Cleveland Cavaliers rookie, Andrew Wiggins. He shared that " Cleveland is making the same mistake that Charlotte made with me ". He is referring to Charlotte trading him after they drafted him in 1996 for Vlade Divac. This seemed like a good trade at the time, but we all know that the Lakers got the better end of the deal in the long run. It is a big stretch to think that Wiggins would be the next Kobe Bryant, but Wiggins surely enjoyed the comment and will give him even more motivation if he winds up in Minnesota if the Kevin Love deal goes through.
What do you think of Kobe's comment about Wiggins?
