Statik Selektah Releases Single 'Game Break' Featuring Lecrae, Posdnuos of De La Soul, Termanology
DJ Statik Selektah released a new single, entitled 'Game Break,' featuring Lecrae, Posdnuos of De La Soul And Termanology on June 4.
The new song encourages young people to rise above their circumstances and make a positive impact on the world. It was inspired by the lyrics of a 1996 song by Notorious B.I.G. entitled, 'Sky's the Limit,' that state, "If the game shakes me or breaks me, I hope it makes me a better man, Take a better stand." Those lyrics are prominently featured throughout Statik's new song.
Lecrae raps on top of Statik's DJ stylings, encouraging minorities to make something of themselves rather than just making excuses. "Get up, get out, get somethin' man, cultivate a creation. Don't blame it on your lack of education. Go to church, go to school, walk the earth, watch the news. Type of person that hates what he learns, called a fool," he raps.
Posdnuos from De La Soul and Termanology come in to take over the rap as well, following along with the same theme of overcoming adversity. All the while, Statik keeps the airy piano loops and hip-hop rhythms coming.
Lecrae tweeted about the new single on June 4 saying, "Support! #hiphop Statik Selektah - Game Break (Single) feat. Lecrae, Posdnuos of De La Soul & Termanology- http://itun.es/i6xx39G."
Statik Selektah is a DJ and producer who has established himself as a well-known name among hip-hop stars on the East Coast, according to iTunes. He has produced a number of album including his 2007 debut, 'Spell My Name Right,' and '100 Proof: The Hangover' in 2010. He has collaborated with various artists including Kool G Rap, M.O.P., Talib Kweli, Evidence, Wale, Torae, Well-Done, Lecrae, Strong Arm Steady and Termanology.
'Game Break' is expected to appear along with others on Statik's upcoming 'Extended Play' LP, that will be available on June 18, through Showoff Records.
