Showtime's Penny Dreadful Season 2 in 2015: To Shoot Again in Dublin, Werewolf, Madame Kali
Showtime's Penny Dreadful that premiered only April of this year is now confirmed for Season 2, with its creator John Logan announcing the news and giving some snippets at the San Diego Comic Con early this July.
With Penny Dreadful drawing 4.8 million weekly viewers and now Showtime's most-watched show, this confirmed season 2 is a much welcome treat for more great horror.
According to John Logan, there will be a lot in store for fans in the upcoming season 2 and promises that it will be very different from season 1. One of the highlights from the Q&A mentioned about Josh Hartnett's Ethan Chandler. And just like everyone else in the series, he's got a secret of his own, with Hartnett even disclosing he already knew the werewolf identity of his character when he first met with John Logan.
It can be remembered at the premiere of the series that Ethan is already being pitched with various signs that he is a werewolf, but wasn't fully revealed later on. However, with the coming season fans can watch out for more inside exploration to his back story, including a dark and brutal relationship with his father. But the catch is, Ethan will also need to come to terms with the challenges of him knowing his real identity.
Helen McCrory's Madame Kali will also be the next season's new mega villain, with her engaged in a deep ominous conversation with Ferdinand Lyle about Vanessa Ives (Eva Green). It seems this duo will be deeply involved in the horrors that are to come in season 2.
Reeve Carney who plays Dorian Grey also teased that Vanessa and Dorian might keep their unique connection, on whether it could evolve into romance or his unforeseen intimate relation with Ethan will have more on screen; fans will get to know next year.
And while waiting, fans can get their hands on the 3-disk DVD set for a release this October 7. Relive the moments of season 1 with its great Victorian era horror and mash-up of iconic characters.
