Top Gun 2 Release Date, Reveals, Spoilers and review: Tom Cruise to Reprise his Role as Maverick in Upcoming Flick
It seems that the release date for Top Gun is still in the air. The movie sequel makes a return after the first movie which featured Maverick and Goose as the top notch aviators that excited audiences all over the globe. That was back in 1986, featuring Tom Cruise in the lead role. The movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer claims the lead actor has yet to sign any contract and the rest of the casting is also not confirmed but the movie is definitely pushing through. This is not the first news of sequel considerations of Top Gun, apparently, talks about the movie had been going on for some time. The executive producer, Jerry was supposed to collaborate with the original movie's director, Tony Scott for the second movie, but since he committed suicide back in 2012, the movie was almost shelved as a result.
Bruckheimer told Huffington Post, they have been trying to make the sequel for close to thirty years, and now it seems they are getting closer to achieving that objective. The top priority is to continue Maverick's adventures in the skies.
Plot: The movie is going to focus on the aspects of modern air warfare. As such, Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a US Navy Pilot in an elite training school in San Diego. During this time when automation of military operations featuring drones and satellites have become a fact of warfare, military pilots are fast becoming obsolete. Cruise is obviously going to show the military brass that pilots are still effective and that the human element in combat is essential. This follows a plot similar to the movie Stealth which introduced the concept of an automated jet that was piloted by an artificial intelligence which worked as one with its components making impossible maneuvers in flight.
