NBA Trade Rumors Lakers: Franchise Targets Point Guard Bledsoe Whose Time with the Suns Seems to be Coming to an End
It seems that the NBA is continuing to evolve and this is probably due to the new wave of free agency signings. For example Lebron James is going to Cleveland while Carmelo Anthony is staying with the Knicks while Pau Gasol is going to the Chicago Bulls. As for the Los Angeles Lakers, their pursuit of the Phoenix Suns, Eric Bledsoe has not lost momentum and will probably not end this season. They are expected to make a play for the guard, as he becomes a free agent by the end of this season. There are rumors that the explosive combo guard wants to accept a qualifying contract from the contract and this will be worth about $3.7 million after both of the involved parties did not come up with an extension for the contract.
Apparently, Bledsoe was not in good terms with the management of the Suns saying that they were using his free agency situation against him. This is probably very good news for a team like the Lakers, who for one need to feel a point guard vacancy slot. As such, they have a chance to offer him a contract that he is seeking, albeit they cannot offer a five year deal like the Phoenix Suns, but he the two parties are probably looking for each other at this point. The next season, they will have about four players under contract and these will include Kobe, Nick Young, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson. There will be an increase in cap room to about $80 million, and as such, taking all things into consideration, about 20 million dollars of cap space will be there. That should be enough to offer quite a significant offer.
The Lakers also added some muscle to the roster for the off season. This is because of their additions from the NBA Draft pick Julius Randle and the power forward Carlos Boozer.
