Kutless' Guitarist James Mead Hospitalized After Stroke

Kutless, the renowned Christian rock band from Portland, Oregon, announced today that their longtime guitarist James Mead has suffered a stroke and is currently hospitalized. The band is asking fans and the music community to rally in prayer and support for James, his wife Lindsay, and their son Jacob as they navigate this difficult time.
"This is a difficult season for all of us, but especially for James and his family," the band shared in a statement. "We are believing for a miraculous recovery and are grateful for the prayers and encouragement from our fans."
The band is inviting supporters to help in two ways: by praying for James's healing and strength for his family, and by contributing financially through the official GoFundMe campaign to assist with medical expenses. The donation link is available via the band's social media stories.
This news comes just weeks after Kutless released their powerful new EP, The Seventh Seal, on June 28, 2025, via BEC Recordings. The six-track project marks a bold return to the band's heavier rock roots, with themes of spiritual struggle, hope, and perseverance. The EP features standout tracks including "End of the World," "Midnight," "Words of Fire," "Breakthrough," "Lies of My Brothers," and "Hold On," with special guest appearances from Kevin Young of Disciple and Dawn Michele of Fireflight. Critics have praised the release, with Today's Christian Entertainment awarding it 4 out of 5 stars and calling it one of the band's most compelling projects in years.
Kutless expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support they have already received. "Your prayers, love, and generosity mean more than we can ever express," the band said.
