Andrew Greer Shares the Heart Behind "Mercy (feat. Cindy Morgan)"

Seven-time Dove Award-nominated singer/songwriter, producer, author and television/podcast host, Andrew Greer releases his new single "Mercy (feat. Cindy Morgan)." The song is now available on all digital platforms.
Greer opens up about the heart behind the song, "A couple years after college, I was living out a particularly hard time. I found myself in another state, wandering the forest (figuratively and literally!), alone with a heartache. Each morning around daybreak, I'd pull the covers back, plant my feet on the floor, and utter this prayer: Good morning, God. Please don't leave me alone.
"Every morning, same prayer, for months.
"You see, I had come to the end of myself. In fact, if I had to name my greatest fear it would be `Me.' Left to my own devices, my own diagnoses and prescriptions for whatever it is that is ailing my mind and heart in any particular season, I always get to the end of me. I run in circles. I get tired. I wear out. And somewhere just past depleted, I find a mustard seed of courage and I cry, Mercy.
"And within this exhale for help, there awakens this Spirit who exchanges all of my grunting and gritting and stubborn striving and dead-end effort for peace. For calm. A lifting of my head. A kiss for my tears. A path to healing. A light in the darkness. Enough mercy to make it through to the other side.
"This song was written out of that prayer to God, Please don't leave me alone."
Greer's critically-lauded Tune My Heart and Angel Band recordings have featured collaborations with some of the top names in bluegrass, Christian and Gospel music. As an author, Greer's titles include Transcending Mysteries: Who is God, and What Does He Want from Us? co-written with Dove Award-winning singer/songwriter Ginny Owens; as well as Winds of Heaven, Stuff of Earth: Spiritual Conversations Inspired by the Life and Lyrics of Rich Mullins.
Greer is also the co-creator and co-host of the popular streaming series Dinner Conversations with Mark Lowry and Andrew Greer. Since its debut in 2017, the series has featured such guests as Kathie Lee Gifford, Amy Grant, Scott Hamilton, Wynonna Judd and Montell Jordan, among others, garnering more than a million streams to date. Additionally, Greer co-hosts and co-produces Bridges with Patsy Clairmont and Andrew Greer: Spiritual Connections Through Generational Conversations, a podcast inviting listeners of all ages to find common ground embracing a fierce faith in a tough season. The show landed in the Top 15 on Apple's Religion & Spirituality podcast chart following its debut last year.
