Third Day's Mac Powell Re-Tells His Testimony on a New Version of "1991"

Third Day's front man Mac Powell releases a new single version of "1991." The song was first featured on Powell's 2021 New Creation. The track can be heard below and is available now.
"1991" is a deeply personal song for Powell because the song re-tells his own conversion story. Powell himself was saved on April 21, 1991 as a senior in high school. He writes, "'1991' definitely stands out because musically it's so different than something I've normally done. It's a little bit more '80s sounding and got a different fresh vibe to it.
"[The song] actually scared me a little bit when we first came up with it because I just thought, 'Okay, this is too far different for me, what my fans want to hear, and are used to.' Yet every time I played the demo for somebody, people loved it. So I went, 'Okay, maybe it's not that different.'"
By April twenty-first, nineteen-ninety-one
I was worn out tired, from all the miles that I had run
Saw an old church and walked right in
Same old truth but it felt new then
On April twenty-first, nineteen-ninety-one
Amazing Grace, my eyes could see
I was born again at the age of eighteen
On a Sunday morning, Jesus got a hold of me
Hallelujah 'cause the past is gone
Hallelujah 'cause I found Your Love
Nothin' was the same, everything changed
On April twenty-first, nineteen-ninety-one
Since Third Day's farewell tour in 2018 Mac Powell released a country album "Back Again" under the banner "Mac Powell And The Family Reunion" and he released "New Creation" in 2021. Powell is on staff at Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, GA where he lives with his wife Aimee and their five children.
