Brooke Ligertwood Honors Darlene Zschech with a Touching Post

GRAMMY® Award-winning songwriter, producer and critically-acclaimed artist Brooke Ligertwood honors her former mentor Darlene Zschech with a touching post today. Eighteen years ago, when Zschech was the worship pastor of Hillsong Church, Zschech singled out Ligertwood and groomed her to become one of Hillsong's better known songwriters and worship leaders.
Meeting up with Zschech, Ligertwood writes, "18 years ago she saw something in me I didn't see in myself... she called me out and up and on - as she has for so many others - and continues to do so. A true mother in every sense.
"Thank you for who you are, incredible Darls. Love you and your amazing family so much. What a treasure and beacon you are to us all."
Already part of Hillsong Church since 2005, Ligertwood joined the Australian church's worship band, Hillsong Worship. The first album she was included on was the 2006 album Mighty to Save, on which she co-wrote "None But Jesus" from United We Stand, released in 2006. Her last live album with the band was the 2010 album A Beautiful Exchange, after which Ligertwood left Hillsong Worship.
The 2016 live album Let There Be Light marked Ligertwood's return and her first live recording with Hillsong Worship since her departure in 2010. She co-wrote and sang lead vocals on the song "What a Beautiful Name" for the 2016 live album. At the 2018 Grammy Awards, the group won the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song award for "What a Beautiful Name". Billboard ranked the song as the top Christian Song of 2017 and third of the 2010s decade.
Recently, Ligertwood recently released her live solo album "SEVEN." Recorded live in Nashville, Tenn., "SEVEN" features a band composed of gifted musicians from the breadth of the modern worship movement (Hillsong, Bethel, Vineyard, Elevation), a 30-piece choir, and a collection of stunning new prayer-soaked songs written and arranged in line with Ligertwood's singular vision with Jesus at the center.
Zschech is full of praise of Ligertwood and her new record. "Time with this darling today @brookeligertwood ... her latest worship offering 'Seven' has had the same impact on my heart that Keith Greens songs had on me as a young worship leader. Brooke, holding your arms up in prayer is one of my life's great privileges."
