MercyMe's Bart Millard's Mother Passes Away

MercyMe's Bart Millard's mother passed away last week. Kathy Adelle "Dell" Duncan went home to see Jesus on July 6, 2022. She was 78 years-old. Like her son Bart, Dell was also an incredibly talented singer and piano player.
She sang with her twin sister, Nell, ever since they were kids. Even recording a record. She started a musical legacy that will continue through her kids and grandkids. Dell loved playing piano wherever she attended church, and for every nursing home in town.
Bart announces, "My sweet mom went to be with Jesus this morning around 5:30am. Thankful my brother and I were with her. Even more thankful she's now with so many that have been cheering her on from Heaven. She's now a bigger part of my future than of my past. I love you mom."
Bart never really had a good relationship with his mother until they made amends 4 years ago. Bart once described his father as a monster because of the harsh physical and verbal abuse he endured as a child. Dell is said to have left her young son behind with his father out of fear for her own life.
Along with making amends with her son, Dell also reconnected with her husband after he had changed. The two had a great friendship before his death.
"She was there when he died, so she knows the man that he became too," Bart testified.
Dell was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist church, but as much as she loved music and her church, she'll be remembered most for her incredible love for Jesus and family. She was an amazing woman, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who has faithfully followed Jesus throughout her life. She may not have been perfect, but she was absolutely redeemed.
