Franklin Graham's Samaritan Purse Sets Up Emergency Field Hospital in Ukraine

In the midst of Russia invading Ukraine, Samaritan's Purse is trying to reach out to Ukrainians with love. They have just set up a 60-bed Emergency Field Hospital on the outskirts of Lviv, in western Ukraine. They expect to receive our first patient at this site soon.
The hospital will include two operating rooms, with capacity for 14 major surgeries or 30 minor surgeries per day. There will be close to 60 total inpatient beds available, including four intensive care unit beds and four step-down beds. The emergency room can handle 100 patients per day.
Materials for the Emergency Field Hospital were airlifted to Poland from North Carolina by our DC-8 cargo jet on March 4 and also March 8. Logistics and other personnel are facilitating supply lines and movement between Poland and Ukraine.
"We went to Ukraine and asked if there was a need for that," Samaritan's Purse's Franklin Graham said. "As soon as we told them we could bring a hospital, they were very eager for us to do so."
"You've got people that are diabetic, you've got people with heart conditions, high blood pressure, all of these kinds of things are just normal everyday problems of life," Graham said. "On top of that, you have a lot of people that ... have been wounded ... due to the shelling. And so, you have to throw that into the mix."
"We will be doing a lot of treating trauma," he predicted. "We won't be doing elective surgeries or anything like that."
