Lecrae Loses Tour Date After Tweet
Grammy Awarding-winning hip hop artist Lecrae has lost a touring date after he took on tweeter to share his view about deconstructing from a "institutional" and "politicized" version of Christianity.
The word "deconstruction" often means a person has denied his or her faith. However, this was not Lecare's intention. Lecrae's original tweet reads: "Once upon a time I thought I was done with Christianity. But the reality was I was just done with the institutional, corporatized, gentrified, politicized, culturally exclusive version of it."
The 42-year-old re-shared his tweet the next day, revealing that he, "Just lost a show because of this tweet. Point proven."
"Vulnerability gets people kicked out of exclusive tribes. Jesus welcomes the outcast and seeks to bring healing," he adds.
Since the release of Lecrae's GRAMMY® award winning album Gravity, Lecrae's mainstream and Christian audiences and platforms have continued to expand, reflected in his features in TIME, Entertainment Weekly, XXL, The Source, Vibe, and other mainstream media outlets. He was named the NFL Players Choice Performer during Super Bowl XLVII Weekend in New Orleans, due to his positive lyrical messages over hard and gritty hip-hop beats, which appeals to a generation of fans that find his music not only enlightening but also entertaining.
