Ye (Kanye West) Named as Suspect in Criminal Battery Investigation

Christian and rap artist Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) has been named a suspect in an alleged misdemeanor battery incident in the Downtown Los Angeles area. Last Thursday, Ye was first involved in a verbal disagreement near the Soho Warehouse club. The argument is alleged to have eventually grown into a physical incident.
According to FOX LA, which first broke the news, Ye allegedly punched a man and knocked him to the ground after an autograph request. The news station reports the alleged incident happened outside a members-only club. Soho Warehouse is near where cops say the incident was reported. If charged, a misdemeanor battery carries a maximum sentence of six months.
Ye's latest album Donda not only debuted at #1 on Billboard 200, but it also reached the summit of the Top Christian Albums and Top Gospel Albums charts, He set a record when the 23 tracks took up the top-23 spots on both the US Christian Songs and Gospel Songs charts, exceeding West's record of all top-10 positions on the former chart and the top-11 on the latter.
As a result of the album and its tracks, West went up from number 67 to the top position on the Billboard Artist 100, giving him his third week atop the chart. By September 15, 2021, Donda had pushed 500,000 album-equivalent units in the US, making the album eligible to be certified gold by the RIAA; the organization awarded it with this certification 12 days later.
