"Two and a Half Men" Ends Its 12 Year Long Run; Charlie Sheen May Return for Season Finale
CBS has announced that after its twelve-year-long run, "Two and a Half Men" will be coming to an end at the close of this season. CBS, in an attempt to reach out to wider demographic, is changing up their program lineup by adding more sports broadcasts and more shows targeted to a younger audience.
However, the show will not go quietly; it's going out with a bang. The show's creator, Chuck Lorre, has been rumored to have some interesting ideas for the final season and the finale specifically. The chair of CBS Entertainment, Nina Hassler, released a statement to this effect: "Chuck Lorre is creating a season-long event. Chuck is very psyched about this. He's got some great ideas and very big surprises."
Fans have begun to speculate about these "big surprises" already. One theory currently making the rounds is that the show's previous star, Charlie Sheen, will be making a comeback. As many know, Sheen left the show in 2011 after he made some tasteless statements about the show and about Lorre.
In his role replacing Sheen, Ashton Kutcher has excelled, as mirrored by the show's rising ratings. Many were shocked by his success, as they had previously claimed that Sheen carried the show and that Kutcher was an unlikely fit to replace him.
While the most recent season clocked in with about 9.1 million viewers, this still is not good enough for the network. In place of shows like "Two and a Half Men," CBS is bringing in five new shows and recently signed a contract with the National Football League, in order to be more appealing to younger viewers.
