Beyoncé Speaks At Houston Childhood Church, Sets Up Hurricane Relief Through 'BeyGOOD' Organization
When Hurricane Harvey came barreling through Houston, Beyoncé was one of many artists to step up and vow to deliver whatever help she could and expected, the Texas native has more than delivered. Her charity initiative "BeyGOOD" has teamed up with Bread of Life, Greater Houston Community Foundation and Texas Southern University to collect donations for those in need. Donations include: cots, blankets, pillows, baby products, feminine products and wheelchairs. The "Formation" singer's good deeds didn't stop there.
Beyoncé also paid a visit to Houston's St. Jones Church, a place where she spent much of her younger years.
"This today is a celebration of survival. This church is my home. I was maybe nine or 10-years-old the first time I sat there where my daughter is sitting. I sang my first solo here and I just wanna thank you for lifting my family up, for praying for me, and for being such an incredible example of what light and love is. Houston is my home. I thank God that you're safe, your children are safe... I just wanna say I love you. I've been blessed so that I can bless other people and I ask of God to continue to do that for other people." she told the gathered group of survivor's from Hurricane Harvey.
Earlier in the day Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles and former Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams served 400 meals to hurricane victims before joining the starlet and her daughter, Blue Ivy at the church. Anyone with money can write a check and while donations are most certainly needed, it's really inspiring to see three generations of this super star family on the ground and hands-on helping, don't you think?
