Tasha Cobbs Honored With Key to Her Hometown
Gospel artist Tasha Cobbs has been awarded the "Key to the City" award. The honor is given to outstanding residents and visitors by the city council of Jesup, Georgia.
Cobbs was born as Natasha Tameika Cobbs,on July 7, 1981 in Jesup, Georgia. Her parents are Bishop Fritz Cobbs (1954-2014) and Lady Bertha Cobbs. She grew up in the church at Jesup New Life Ministries, which her parents led. Cobbs took to social media to share the moment with her supporters.
"WOW! Tonight was AMAZING," she wrote on Instagram Sunday. "The mayor from my hometown presented me with Key to the City... words escape me right now!"
In the video, Jesup Mayor David Earl Keith presented Cobbs with the honor at Unity Church of God in Jesup.
"I know you travel all over the world and I know you tell people about Jesup. We appreciate you doing that," Keith told Cobbs in front of the church's congregation. "Tasha Cobb has shown herself to be an exemplary citizen and outstanding member of Jesup Georgia. Tasha Cobb is known for her entertainment success and numerous accomplishments [that] include a Grammy, Dove and Stellar Awards."
Tasha Cobbs won a Grammy Award, three Dove Awards and three Stellar Gospel Music Awards after only one nationally released album. That album, GRACE, remained at the top of Billboard's Gospel sales charts for over a stunning two years after its 2013 release.
