Jonathan McReynolds Surprised EP "Sessions" Debuts at #3
Jonathan McReynolds' new six-song EP Sessions debuts this week at Billboard Gospel Albums chart at #3. The EP sold 1,000 copies last week. This is Reynolds' third Top Gospel Albums appearance and follows his first No. 1, last year's Life Music: Stage Two, which sold 10,000 copies its first week (Oct. 10). McReynolds' first charted LP, Life Music, started at its No. 3 peak (4,000 sold) in 2012.
Last week, Reynolds surprised fans by dropping his new EP following a quick tease on social media the night before. Hours later, he revealed the release of an unexpected new digital EP, titled Sessions.
The 6-track musical offering features unplugged, acoustic and live versions of some of his most popular songs, along with some must-hear guest appearances.
Standouts include an acoustic re-workings of McReynolds' Urban AC hit "The Way That You Love Me" and "Full Attention," featuring urban soul songstress Tweet. Chantae Cann again joins Jonathan McReynolds on "Maintain"- this time, in a live version that leads beautifully into the worshipful "Maintain Flow," with elements of "It Is Well" and "Pressure" incorporated into it. Long-time fans will also appreciate his re-arranged "Key of G (Throwback)" interlude, lifted from the independent project that preceded his major label debut, Life Music.
With Sessions, Jonathan McReynolds continues to unfold facets of his artistry, offering his supporters some of what they love most about him- transparency, message and, of course, the music.
Sessions is available now, everywhere digital music is sold.
