30 Years Ago Whitney Houston Had Her First #1 Hit

30 years ago, on October 26, 1985 Whitney Houston hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #1 for the first time when "Saving All My Love for You" etches its way from 2 to 1. "Saving" is going to be the first of three songs from her debut album "Whitney Houston" to hit the pole position.
Whitney would go on to camp at the #1 position 4 more times with her sophomore album "Whitney." Amongst her #1 hits from her second release was the bittersweet ballad "Didn't We Almost Have It All," one of many hits of hers co-written by the late Michael Masser.
The hits kept coming with her third album "I'm Your Baby Tonight." The title track finds Whitney showcasing her R&B roots as she worked with super hot producers Babyface and L.A. Reid. But the album's show stealer was the big ballad and #1 hit "All the Man That I Need."
Whitney continued her stellar career by staring on the big screen. Her biggest break came when she recorded her biggest #1 record to date. "I Will Always Love You" spent 14 weeks on the penthouse of the chart.
Whitney went on to collect her last #1 song from the movie "Waiting to Exhale." "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" not only was a #1 hit but it even debut at #1.
Though she may not have a #1 pop hit anymore, she scored the biggest and best selling album in Gospel music with "The Preacher's Wife." This is an album that reveals Whitney's love for God and the church. And it's also her most personal record to date.
