NBA trade Rumors and Updates: Terrence Jones up for Trade from the Houston Rockets while Knicks Ponder Sending Jr. Smith to the Pacers
As usual things are lively in the US basketball universe. On the latest, the way that the Kicks present Phil Jackson spoke about the guard, J.R Smith this offseason, it sounded like the veteran was not theirs for long. It seems like the Knicks had a talk with the Pacers about sending Smith to them for the price of forward, Chris Copeland. Copeland played for New York in 2012 but headed for Indiana a year after. These are just rumors but, in a way, it does make some sense. The Knicks gave Tim Hardaway Jr., Iman Shumpert so they could use some depth in that department.
This possible trade would give the Knicks an expiring contract for 2015 cap space, while Smith could opt out of the his deal after this season is over. There are some setbacks allegedly as to why the deal has not yet gone through. Apparently, Jackson has no plans about making any deals until December 15 which is a key NBA date as the 2014 free agent signees and 2014 draft picks will be eligible to be traded. In other news, it seems the Houston Rockers will be considering trading Terrence Jones this season in the hopes of getting a crucial new player while the New Orleans Pelicans might ship Ryan Anderson in order to improve their roster depth.
The Rockets have tried to make big moves during the offseason but they largely failed to land a Superstar despite making a lot of bids to acquire Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Miami Heat power forward Chris Bosh. The Rockets are reportedly still optimistic they can acquire another superstar to pair up with Dwight Howard and James Harden. According to some insiders, if Terrence Jones continues to play well for the team that will increase his trade value and that would mean they would be able to trade him off for a third star they desire.
