HTC Desire 820 Release Date, Specs: The Most Powerful Selfie Mid-Range SmartPhone Yet?
HTC Desire 820 was first unveiled at the IFA in Berlin on September 4. It will be available in stores later this fall, with availability varying by country and region. In fact, it has already made its debut in India and is due for release in China soon within this month. The successor to the popular HTC Desire 816, according to Tech Radar, offers "all-new power, a fancy camera and a clever new manufacturing process." With its Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, with integrated 4G LTE Cat 4 connectivity and 64-bit, multi-core CPU, the new HTC Desire 820 promises to deliver content on-the-go at lightning-fast speeds of up to 150mbps with exceptional clarity on its 5.5" high definition screen. With its Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, it will also be able to handle an upgrade of its Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS to v5.0 Lollipop once the roll-out is available from Google.
The HTC Desire 820 seemed to have set a new standard for selfies with its 8MP front-facing camera which boasts of a new functionality that allows you to merge your features with a friend's or celebrity's for a modern mashup. It also has a 'Live Makeup' that lets you preview the image you just took and set the desired level of skin smoothing before taking the photo and a 'Photo Booth' where you can capture several moments in a single image. The phone's rear camera has an f/2.2 aperture and a 13MP BSI sensor that can even allow you to hold the shutter for rapid-fire shooting to capture fast-moving targets. The Desire 820 has front-facing stereo speakers and two powerful, dedicated amplifiers of HTC 'BoomSound.'
And the phone itself is well-designed, according to Tech Radar, "as it comes with a new manufacturing process from HTC that's allowed it to make a handset with a good build quality and a two tone look." It comes in Marble White, Tuxedo Grey, Santorini White, Milky-way Grey, Tangerine White, Saffron Grey, Flamingo Grey, Blue Misty, and Monarch Orange. The phone ships with a non-removable Li-Po 2600 mAh battery, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, a v4.0, A2DP Bluetooth, GPS, proximity sensors, compass, among others.
