MacBook Air 2014 Latest News and Rumors; Rumored MacBook Air Retina Absent at Apple's Event-Will MacBook Air Retina Ever See the Light of Day?
The rumored MacBook Air Retina 2014 was much anticipated on Apple's October 16 event. Fans were disappointed, however, when the much awaited laptop was a no-show at the event. What Apple did mostly, instead, was focus on its other devices, namely, its new generation ipads, the new Mac Mini, the iMac with Retina 5K display as well as the OS X Yosemite.
In fact, there really isn't any official announcement from Apple regarding the Air Retina, although a lot of people are still hoping that they will release one. Many experts, however, hypothesized that the MacBook Air retina may never happen.
This was of course, an intelligent guess by the website Engadget based on analysis. A strong battery life along with a powerful graphics processor are required for a laptop to have a Retina display, such as Apple's very own MacBook Pro with Retina. The MacBook Pro-whose 13-inch version weighs 3.46 pounds compared to the Air's 2.96-has the size and the weight that can accommodate both the processor and the battery for Retina allowance. The MacBook Air, however, cannot.
In addition to that, the rumored MacBook Air Retina will supposedly sport a 12-inch screen and made lighter than the current MacBook Air 2014, making it even less possible to be equipped with a Retina-unless they add more to its rumored specs and make it bigger and wider.
Maybe the MacBook Air Retina will never ever see the light of day-perhaps, possibly in the future, at least. All we can do right now is wait for any further Apple announcements.
