Foo Fighters New Album News: Dave Grohl Slams TV Talent Shows in an Interview for the album Sonic Highways and the HBO documentary series
Foo Fighters Dave Grohl had been slamming TV Talent Shows these days.
Grohl expresses his dissatisfaction in an interview with Anderson Cooper for the current affairs show 60 Minutes. He specifically aimed his target at American Idol, The X-Factor (Now what could Simon Cowell say about this?) and other shows that crushes aspiring singers, according to Sunday Morning Herald.
During the interview, Grohl said to Cooper, "Who's to say they're not good or not?"
"Imagine Bob Dylan standing there singing Blowin' in the Wind in front of those judges?" he said.
The Foo Fighters frontman then goes on to imitate a judge in a certain show saying, "Sorry, it's a little nasally and a little flat. Next!"
The former Nirvana drummer was chosen by 60 Minutes as a precursor to the Foo Fighters New album, Sonic Highways release. The album will be complemented with a HBO documentary series.
Grohl had first voiced out his uneasiness with TV talent shows earlier this year in a television industry event for the HBO documentary.
"I don't want my kid to think that the only way you can be a musician is to stand in line at a song contest audition," he said.
"And then wind up having a bazillionaire tell you if you're not a good singer.
"To me, that's not what music's about," he said.
Grohl is not the only one expressing dissatisfaction with these talent shows.
Sir Elton John said that TV competitions "killed talent". Sting, Police frontman, also stated that, "The X-Factor is appalling".
Robbie Williams, former member of the British boy band Take That, also said that talent shows are cruel, "They f--- with people's lives for entertainment," he said.
