Sinister Sequel Release Date and Other Latest News; Sinister 2 to Star Shannyn Sossamon and Returning Actor James Ransone
The announcement of Sinister 2 came as no surprise after all, what with its micro-budget horror prequel, Sinister (directed by Scott Derrickson), ending up being a huge success. After the release of the first film, the Sinister sequel was approved right away, with Derrickson doing the screenplay; with his Sinister co-writer C.Robert Cargill along with Citadel's Ciaran Foy to direct.
The Sinister 2 plot will pick up from the first film's story about a crime writer Ellison Oswalt-played by Ethan Hawke-who moves in with his entire family to a house where a brutal murder of an entire family had taken place prior to the movie's storyline and where a young girl had gone missing as well. After a series of disturbing events and the discovery of a few, gruesome home videos, they realize that murders were all linked to one another and to a demonic, child-stealing entity called Bagul (referred to as Mr. Boogie by the children).
The Sinister 2 cast will include Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight's Tale) as the lead character-a mother of 9-year old twins who decide to move into the haunted house-alongside James Ransone who will be reprising his role as the so-called "Deputy-So-and-So" in the first movie, a bizarre character whose story was rather cut short a bit, with viewers ending up clueless as to what he's become; those who watched the first film and liked the character would probably welcome the closure.
The Sinister 2 release date is scheduled on August 21, 2015 in the U.S.
