Daniele Watts Incident, Racial Profiling Rumors and Updates: Not Racial Profiling but Lewd Conduct for the Django Actress
A story that originally leaked on TMZ had the entertainment community in uproar; Daniele Watts was recently arrested in broad daylight and her claim as she explained to reporters that her arrest was based on a racial profile. Pushing at the fact that racism is still very rampant in the streets of Los Angeles. Danielle explained that the reason she was arrested was because people could still not look at a black woman and a white man on the streets without thinking prostitute. She explained that she was simply kissing her boyfriend on the streets, Brian James Lucas when the cops came up to her and put her in cuffs. Her story garnered national news attention, and why wouldn't it? It is a sad fact that years later after men such Martin Luther king junior racism would still pose as a problem to the people of America.
However, this was until a recording of the event was found and leaked by the TMZ. The reason for the arrest was actually lewd public conduct. A different version of events is reported by witnesses. The Los Angeles police department was alerted by witnesses to a couple that was having sex in broad day light. Daniele Watts and her boyfriend Brian James Lucas have each been charged with public lewd conduct; a crime that carries a fine of $1000 or six months in jail.
It is safe to say that Danielle has used up her 'cry wolf' card. It would be nearly impossible to believe her if she ever reported another racial crime. It begs the question, why would she use the race card as a defense to a crime she clearly committed? Are people still using the race card as a form of crutches?
