OS X 10.10 Yosemite Review: The New Face of Yosemite Unleashes Its Brand New Power
Finally, Apple's OS X 10.10 Yosemite operating system is here.
According to Know Your Mobile, the most notable change in OS X 10.10 Yosemite is its overall appearance. The shiny buttons and shadows have been taken place by simple flat designs. It also looks sophisticated with its text, button shapes, and window borders. It also features a translucent theme, which is also known as frosted glass. It helps you locate files and folders as you traverse the windows and applications.
Spotlight received an upgrade as well, since it a built-in tool for searching, according to Engadget. The new OS allows the user to see previews for Wikipedia, Bing search results, iTunes purchases, or even contacts.
Another major new feature showcased by OS X 10.10 Yosemite is Continuity, which principally serves as the iOS integration. It has three major features - phone calls, SMS, and Handoff.
Continuity links your Mac and your iPhone. Generally, if your Mac and iPhone are both on the same Wi-Fi network, then you can make or receive phone calls using your Mac. If you receive a call in your iPhone, you will receive a notification on your Mac. Before, users can get iMessages on their iPhone or Mac. However, regular text messages cannot pass through the Mac, because only the iPhone has a regular connection.
Now, green text messages from the iPhone can also be displayed to the Mac provided that they are on the same Wi-Fi network. With this upgrade, users can now send and receive text messages on Mac to and from people that do not use an iOS device.
Handoff, the third feature of Continuity, enables users to switch doing a task among Mac, iPhone, or iPad. If you are typing a document in your iPhone and you want to continue it on Mac, Handoff sends a notification to your Mac for you to continue typing the document.
With regard to browsing, Safari has changed a lot. It is equipped with an exceptionally fast loading time when you are searching with it, as noted in The Verge. The browser also lists the sites that you frequently visit as you click on the address bar.
The new OS X 10.10 Yosemite possesses the following features: a sophisticated design, applications endowed with highly enhanced features, and a full link between Mac and iOS devices. These new features will completely change how users see iOS and what they can do with it.
