Stephen Colbert Demanded Accurate Height in Google Result; Tech-Giant Responds in a Silly Manner
After blatantly and jokingly blurted that the tech-giant wronged him by an inch, Stephen Colbert, the comedian, has finally got his wish. In response to his complain of incorrect height listing in Google Results, the American search engine giant revised Colbert’s height in an equally clever way, as reported by sfist.
Colbert, claimed that his real height is 5’11 and not 5’10 as seen in Google’s result page, when "Stephen Colbert height" is searched. In response to the show’s host, Google has changed his height from 5’10 to 5’10.5 with a metric conversion of 1.79m.-ish.
Aside from the altered height of the well-known comedian, the result page of Google once you search the "Stephen Colbert height" keywords will show Page’s height at 5’11, Jon Stewart is tagged "shorter," and Conan O’Brien ‘is a freakish 6’4.’With this equally comedic response, Google might pacify the jokingly but angry host.
The American political satirist and host, blasted Google last week in his “Who’s Attacking Me Now?” segment of his own show, PC Mag recalled. Colbert has chosen Google as his subject as he claimed that the search engine giant misstated his height.
According to Colbert, his height has been 5’11 ever since he was 14 years old. He then speaks directly to Google’s CEO Larry page and said, “Larry, I demand a retraction, an investigation, an apology, and a substantial cash settlement or I will see your ass in court.”
Google has not offered all the conditions asked by Colbert, but the feud tainted with a bit of humor will seemingly subside soon.
On the other hand, Colbert height issue reignited discussion about authenticity of getting facts through Google. Inquisitr said Google is shifting its role as a search engine that refers users to websites into a page that publishes direct information.
It can be noticed that once you search a keyword in Google, a direct answer is already present in its page, thus, users will no longer need to visit other websites. This strategy makes a user stay longer at Google page and users will then see more ads in Google.
In website Marketing Land, Danny Sullivan said, “The challenge Google faces is that it really doesn’t “know” anything — it only gets answers from others, and those answers, not vetted by human beings for accuracy, can be wrong.”
