Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation Specs and Features: Rumored Upgrades
It is not easy to predict the release of Apple products. No matter what you think of it, they manage to come up with something extraordinary when you are least expecting it. And like always, fans were expecting a new iPod in September's event and then now in October, which of course didn't happen. Instead, Apple has released new iPhones, Watches and iPads.
So, what happens to the next generation iPod? Is Apple just too busy developing their payment system? Will the iPod Touch 6 ever see day of the light? There were actually rumors about how Tim Cook had suggested ditching the iPod idea, but they were not true. Although Christian Post and many other tech giants predicted the release in October, it will definitely come out in a matter of months.
According to recent reports, Apple plans to release 6th Gen iPod in first few months of January somewhere around the Apple Watch launch date. Quite obviously, it will be the next big thing in music gadget industry and going by the track record, the makers will be working on developing something we have not expected yet.
The last Touch iPod 5 was launched was introduced in October 2014, after which there have been several reports of declining business. For over two years, Apple has not talked about any new iPod variant apart from petty updates in storage space, camera, and colors. However, it is firmly believed that Apple is working on a complete revamp to establish iPods as new entertainment systems. The upgrades include Retina display, bigger screen size, better colors, better camera, and of course more storage space. It's kind of obvious that the new iPod will run on latest operating system iOS 8 or iOS 8.1.
iTech Whiz even believes that iPod Touch 6 will also get a NFC chip, which is an important part for Apple payment system. It will enable communication between merchant machines and user's PassBook. Notably, iPhone 6, Phone 6 Plus, and Apple watches have also been fitted with this new technology and if Apple has to sell more iPods, NFC will play a very important role here.
