'The Walking Dead Season 5': Doesn't Fail its 22 Million Viewers on 5th Season Premiere
"The Walking Dead's" new and fifth season just premiered on Oct. 12 and it has garnered over 22 million viewers, toppling its season 4 debut which had 20.2 million viewers, Deadline has learned.
However, Wetpaint reported that many viewers may be disappointed or excited in the upcoming plot changes which include characters dying yet again in "The Walking Dead".
According to the comic book story line, Bob Stookey, played by Larry Gilliard Jr., may die early in the season. In the comic book, Bob was bitten by a walker. He hides it and then goes on to be kidnapped by a group of cannibals.
This could be saddening for some fans as Bob and Sasha, played by Seneca Martin-Green, is seen kissing in the previews for Episode 2. It is also speculated that Bob will get eaten by the cannibal group, but later on tells them that he's been bitten.
According to Hollywoodlife, "The Walking Dead" comic book creator Robert Kirkman, also reveals that there are deaths that will be seen in the fifth season. Kirkman confirmed it during a Comic Con panel in New York on Oct. 11. He also goes on to say that there are multiple devastating episodes to watch out for.
On another note, an Episode 2 preview shows that Rick and his gang start another journey on the way to Washington D.C. They are seen walking in the woods.
The second episode is titled "Strangers". It could refer to a new character to be introduced in the show or if the strangers are Rick and his company themselves.
The speculated new character is Father Gabriel, who is played by Seth Gilliam. The trailer shown at the Comic Con shows that Sasha is talking with Father Gabriel in his church. Father Gabriel's past is not clearly shown in the "Strangers" episode. However, in the comics, Father Gabriel turned down pleas for help from the parish because he thought that his provisions will not be able to hold up. The people were killed and eaten by the walkers outside his church.
Other speculated deaths include Beth Greene, played by Emily Kinney, as she is held hostage in a hospital. Another one is Glenn Rhee, played by Steven Yeun.
"The Walking Dead" appears every Sundays at AMC.
