Celine Dion Cancels Las Vegas Shows & Asian Tour Dates Due to Husband's Sad Health Decline
World famous singer, Celine Dion, has made the decision to cancel her Las Vegas shows and upcoming Asian tour to focus on the declining health of her husband Rene' Angelil.
Angelil, 72, stepped down as Dion's manager last June due to health issues and had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in December.
Dion released a statement about her husband's condition to ABC News, sharing:
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children," she explained. "I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."
"It's been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting [Angelil's] disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children," Dion's rep told ABC News.
Angelil was first diagnosed with cancer of the throat in 1999, which he initially beat but there is always the chance that it will return.
Please keep Celine Dion, Rene' Angelil and their family in your prayers as we wish them the best in their recovery.
Celine and Rene' began dating publicly in 1987 after years of knowing each other when she was just a child singer. The two became engaged in 1991 and were married on 17 December 1994, at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec. On 5 January 2000, Dion and Angelil renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas.
